Grandville High School Bands

GHS Marching Band
The Grandville High School Marching Band is an award-winning band that performs at numerous competitions on a local, state, and national level each fall. The marching band also plays during half-time at home football games. The Grandville Marching Band consistently earns high ratings and annually places in the top ten bands in Michigan at the MCBA State Finals.

GHS Concert Bands
Grandville High School has three concert bands and two jazz bands.

Symphonic Winds - The Symphonic Winds band is comprised of advanced musicians performing at the college level. Students are selected by the director based on playing proficiency.
Symphonic Band - Students are selected for the advanced-level Symphonic Band by the directors, based on playing proficiency.
Concert Bands - There are two concert bands, each of equivalent musical ability. Students chosen for the Concert Bands continue to develop skills associated with tone quality and technique. Concert Band is a performance oriented class. Students are selected by the directors based on playing proficiency.
Jazz Band - Membership in the high school Jazz Band 1 is by audition only. Any band student can be in Jazz Band 2. No audition is necessary. Students must also be enrolled in one of the concert bands. The Jazz Bands rehearse and perform pieces in various styles and from various periods in jazz and big-band developments.

GHS Winter Groups

Winter Winds - Winter Winds consists of wind and percussion students from the marching band. This award winning ensemble competes in the Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts (MAPA). GHS Winter Winds won the Scholastic A State Championship in 2023.
Winter Guard - Winter Guard consists of color guard students from the marching band. New students that are interested in learning color guard are also welcome to audition. This award winning ensemble competes in the Michigan Color Guard Circuit (MCGC).
Winter Percussion - Winter Percussion consists of GHS and Jenison HS students from marching band. This award winning ensemble competes in the Michigan Alliance for Performing Arts (MAPA).
